Valentine's Mini Candy Dispenser Tutorial

Hello! Hello!  As promised, I have put together another YouTube tutorial and also a printable diagram for this project.  If you would like more info about this "mini" candy dispenser, you may visit my post about this (a recent back post)  :).

The YouTube tutorial does not walk you through the step-by-step directions for constructing the box.  For that one, you can watch the original candy dispenser video.  It does, however, show you the process and take you from the plain box to the finished product :). You can access that on my YouTube channel.

For the scoring, cutting diagram, visit my website here.  Click on the link "CTMH tutorials"> scroll down to the photo that matches above and click on the document right under.

Spirit Packs for HS Swim Team

Hello! Hello!  I volunteered to help put together our HS swim team's spirit packs.  They go to Region tomorrow.  For my contributions, I created a gum wrapper for each.  The outside (as you can see above [lol]) says, "Tri a little harder; dent (don't) let up!  I had to create that on the computer.  Unfortunately, I didn't have a stamp for that :).  I created the water bottle wrappers using the CTMH SkyLark Workshop on the Go stamp set and the Chalk It Up paper line; and then I created the bag tags using CTMH's Dreamer stamp set.  There are 30 packs all together.  I hope this pumps the team up!

Other little fun things inside are: peanuts, starburst, fishy crackers, skittles, and fruit snacks.

CTMH Mini Valentine candy dispenser

Hello! Hello!  So, I am obsessed with these dispensers.  Maybe it is because so many of you love them, too.  The first Thursday of every month I do Girls' Night Out at the Library.  I know the girls in our book/craft club will love this; however, I decided to shrink it down a little :).  The result is a dispenser made from an 8.5x11 piece of paper!  I will be posting a YouTube tutorial and diagram for this soon.

This box is made using CTMH Heart Strings paper pack, Sweet & Lovely (Artbooking Cricut Bundle Stamp Set), Artbooking Cricut cartridge, January's Stamp of the month- Happy Hello, cranberry dye ink and slate dye ink.

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy crafting! -Dari

Christmas Joy layout

Hello! Hello! I am so glad you stopped by today.  Yesterday was my monthly scrapbooking group. This is the layout we did. I wanted something that want the traditional Christmas colors. I opted for glitter and bling. This page reminds me of ornaments :). The layout idea came from the CTMH Reflections book.  I used the Artbooking cartridge for the die cuts. We also incorporated a fun technique using Pearl ex powders and verdant ink.  This was lots of fun! The stamp sets we used for this layout are CTMH Flakey Friends and CTMH Sweet and Lovely (cricut bundle).

Two fun CTMH cards

Inside of the card above.

Inside of the bottom card.

Hello! Hello!  Today is such a beautiful day!  I am looking outside, and although I know spring is a long way off here in the mountains, there is a feeling in the air.  The sun is reflecting off the snow in a manner that brings light to everything and brightens the soul.

Almost two weeks ago I hosted card club.  Usually the hostess sets the requirements for the next month's club- theme, colors, sketch, etc., and we put together a card based on that.  We each put together the pieces in "kits" so that the other members of the club can all make our card.  When we get together, we exchange and get to make one of each card.  It's lots of fun and a great mommy break :).  My sister, who was living with me, was supposed to be the hostess.  She decided that instead of a specific theme we were to put together a kit with the ingredients for someone else to be able to create 2 cards from the contents within.

When we got together, we drew out of a hat (in reality, it was a bowl :) ) so we didn't know which kit we would get.  Then the fun began.  The kit I got had these really cute papers in it.  I was so excited.  These are the two cards I came up with.  I love them!

I don't what brand the papers are; however, here are the CTMH ingredients I used:

CTMH Stamp Sets- Your Own Kind of Wonderful (D1627), Pretty Petals (C1599), and Holiday Tags (D1560).
CTMH Dye Inks- Lagoon, Black, Glacier, Hollyhock, Sunflower (retired), Pear, Grey Flannel (retired)
CTMH Pigment Ink- Smoothie
Other- CTMH  Broad Glue Pen, 3D foam tape, Nonstick micro-tip scissors, sponge daubers, Fiskars Paper Trimmer

Hope you found some inspiration!  Thanks for stopping by! -Dari

Homemade Craft Organizer

Hello! Hello!  I was browsing Pinterest the other day and ran across a DIY office organizer.  I have been looking at the tupperware dish on my craft desk that holds the tools I use ALL the time and trying to come up with a better more functional solution to organize them without taking up lots of space.

Last night I created my own version inspired from my Pinterest find.  It velcros on the bottom and has cardboard inserts in each of the three panels that way it can be folded flat when not in use!  I am happy with the results and hope this inspires you as well!

CTMH Thinking of You Card

Hello! Hello!  I just finished my monthly Technique Workshop.  This is the project we did.  We face lifted the step by step tutorial in the CTMH Seasonal Expressions catalog for the Happy To Be Friends stamp set (C1605).  The moment I saw that set and tutorial in the catalog I knew I had to use it.  I loved the color combination they used and everything.

In addition to the stamp set, here are the other CTMH products we used to create this card:
White Daisy Cardstock
Glacier Dye Ink
Black Dye Ink
Flaxen Dye Ink
Juniper Dye Ink
Hollyhock Dye Ink
Liquid Glass
Quatrefoil embossing folder
Broad Tip Glue Pen

I also used a cape cod blue cardstock and cream cardstock from Michaels, corner rounder, tape adhesive and scrap ribbon (not sure the brand- sorry).

Happy Crafting and thanks for stopping by! -Dari

YouTube CTMH Candy Dispenser tutorial

I finally did it!  I got the YouTube tutorial done for the candy dispenser so many of you requested :).  Not only did I get it done, but I accomplished creating my first YouTube video, stepped out of my comfort zone, did something out of my league, learned a lot about Microsoft Live Movie Maker and realized that my voice isn't as bad as I have always thought (lol).

You can view it for yourself on YouTube on my {Newly created channel} Dari's Creative Corner.  Hope you enoy it!

The tutorial is broken down into two parts.  I am actually considering doing another video and finishing (decorating) the box  I created in the tutorial Valentine Style!

Thanks for stopping by and all of the encouragement I have received lately! -Dari

What a day! & Gum Wrapper

You know those days that you never plan for?  Well, that's how my day has been.  Just as I was getting my last kid out the door, I got a phone call from my mom.  "What are your plans for the day?" Knowing my mom, I decided to respond with, "What do they need to be?" If I had told her I had made a detailed map of my day so I could work everything into it , I am sure she would have said, "OK. I won't bother you."

She informed me that my aunt was going in for emergency heart surgery and that my cousin needed some help with her baby.  There is a hospital policy right now that no one under the age of 14 is allowed in the hospital (to protect the kids and to slow down the spread of common ailments that can put the ill over the edge).  And yet, her 3 month old baby only nurses.

I quickly made phone calls and threw my plans out the window, jumped in my car, grabbed a breast pump from my sister, and went down to help them out.  I have spent the day running all over and taking care of a little one.

Anyway, one of my goals for the day was to do that You Tube video for the candy dispensers.  Not happening today; however, if I am home tomorrow, I will try to get it done.  If not, look for it in the next week :).

I did want to share with you another favorite Christmas project I did this year.  These were a huge hit at the Craft boutique I participated in. I love the CTMH Flaky Friends stamp set.

CTMH Candy Dispenser tutorial

**UPDATE: Wow!  I didn't expect this post to be so popular!  I am not complaining at all.  I have had a request for a way to save this or to be able to print it, so I have uploaded this to my website.  You can find it here

***UPDATE #2: You can now download and print a scoring/cutting diagram for this project on my website. Just click on the link above or visit: daris-corner.weebly.com and go to the page titled CTMH tutorials.

Hello! Hello!  Thanks for stopping by!  I promised a tutorial for this fun box, and so here it goes.....

This box is made from ONE 12x12 piece of cardstock (embellishments not included :) ). I hope you can see the lines well enough.  You, of course, will not mark your paper.  You can just score at the measurements where I have drawn in dashed lines.
  1. Slide your 12x12 piece of cardstock into your scoring device.  I use my FISKARS Deluxe trimmer with the score blade attachment. Any method will work.
  2. With your paper in front of you, score the entire length of your paper at the 5" mark.
  3. Take your paper out, and turn it the other direction with the 5 inches towards the top.  If you are looking at your paper, you should have a horizontal line 5 inches from the top of your paper (7 inches from the line closest to you).   I know this sounds weird, but you need that mark so you don't score your lid in an undesirable spot :).
  4. Score from the top of your paper down to an inch past your 5" score line at the 2 3/4" measurement.
  5. Repeat this at the 5 1/2" measurement.
  6. At the 8 1/4" measurement, you are going to score ALL the way down your paper.
  7. Score all the way down your paper at the 11" mark as well.
Turn your paper 90 degrees.  You should only have one vertical score mark (the 5").
  1. Slide your paper into your trimmer so that the 5"goes into your trimmer first, or if you are using a score pal, the existing score line is at the 5" mark.  Now, make sure that the area of your paper that has score marks spanning the entire paper HORIZONTALLY is at the bottom (closest to you). I hope that makes sense. If not, leave me a message.
  2. Score from the bottom of your paper at 7 3/4" upwards past your last  horizontal score mark 1".
  3. Score from the bottom of your paper at 8 3/4" upwards past your last  horizontal score mark 1".
  4. Repeat this at the 9 3/4" measurement as well.
Leave your paper this same direction.  Slide it back into the trimmer or towards that 5" score line until you reach 4".  You are going to CUT from the top  score mark down to the next one (from the 2 3/4" line to the 5 1/2" line). This will form your dispenser hole.

Slide your Paper to the 6" measurement.  Starting from the top, cut down to the 8 1/4" score line (second from the bottom) and from the bottom score line off the edge.

I found it easiest to remove the paper at this time and make the remaining cuts with my scissors.
  1.  I cut the small section out between the 6" cut line and the 4" cut line.
  2. I also cut vertically along the existing score marks at the 8 1/4" and 11" marks up to the 9 3/4" score line and then cut around leaving 1" on the inside to the 7 3/4" score line and then followed the vertical 8 1/4" score line again to the 5" score line.
  3. At the 7 3/4" horizontal score line mark along the edge (only 1" from right side as shown above), I cut into the edge until I hit the first score line, turned and cut up to the 5" score line.
You should have a large piece left over.  Set this aside for your box lid.

Here is what your paper should look like with the remaining cuts:

Now it's time to fold!! At the bottom of your paper, there should be a "T" or cross shape. Fold this in half as shown in the photo above.  Crease well.

With your paper in hand, cut from the score line to the outer corner on both sides as shown above.
This is what it should look like when you unfold your paper.

Aahhh!  Somehow I don't have the pictures of the box folding.  They are pretty easy, though.  Here goes:
  1. Crease all score lines well.
  2. Fold the long pieces towards each other to form a box.  Glue the 1" tab along the side and adhere on the INSIDE.
  3. There are 3 small flaps hanging off the bottom of the glued section.  Place adhesive on these and glue to the top of the first section of the "T".
At this point, this is what your box should look like.

Put glue on the remaining "T" parts, fold over and slide into the box as shown above.

Place glue on the OUTSIDE of the triangle flaps and gently slide them into your box until the desired angle/space is reached.

 FOR YOUR BOX TOP:
Cut a 4 3/4" square from the remaining piece of cardstock you set aside.
You are going to score 15/16" all the way around. Simply place your paper into your trimmer or onto your score pal, score 15/16" from the edge, turn your paper and repeat all the way around.
Next, with your scissors, you are going to cut on ONE side of your paper along your score lines up to the closest horizontal score line you come to. Flip your paper around 180 degrees and repeat.  Then, you will cut off your corners (the triangle sections shown above).
From here, it is time to fold again :).  Simply crease all your score lines and put glue on your triangle tabs.  Glue these on the INSIDE of your box as shown below.

 You're done!
Now you can slide your lid onto your box and embellish as desired!  Hint/Note: If you want a stamped background like mine, stamp your cardstock BEFORE making your dispenser.

I know this tutorial was a little more complex.  If you are confused or have a hard time understanding it, please leave me a message!

Thanks and hope you have fun creating! -Dari
